School or Job

School or Job
I think this is quite an opinion based topic as far as I am concerned so I thought it would warrant its own page. It is a know fact (well when I say fact, I mean a generically talked about number) that only %5 of the population of a developed country are amongst the wealthiest, with the rest of us being the 95%ers? So what do they do differently from us. Look at Bill gates for example who dropped out from school. What these people have is drive, determination and the ability to not take no for an answer.
For many generations society and past generations has driven people to leave school, go to college, then on to university in readiness to find a job, then work for the rest of their life until retirement and live off a pension, or perhaps no pension for some people. Whilst we are all working hard, we continue to put millions of dollars into the pockets of the 5%ers. Who says there is going to be enough pension to go around when we need it. All the baby-boomer’s are about to cash in on their retirement. How will this affect us in our later lives?
It’s Time To Take Care Of Yourself
Who are university degrees actually for these days? the individual or for the parents so they can be proud and brag off to their friends that their child has been to University for an education. To most people (ie the 95% er’s) this is so they can get a higher paying job easier (is it?) so they can work 9-5 for the rest of their lives.
What Isn’t Taught In Schools
Financial Education, this is what isn’t taught in schools, and in my view this subject is perhaps more important than having to lean French because there are no other options. If one wanted to be in the construction industry like I did then where is the sense in that. Imagine if youngsters really new that if they spent 10k on their 1st car, then as soon as they drove it out of the showroom it would have de-valued by at least 10% straight away. What if these youngsters were able to invest that same 10k and actually make something out of it, for example buy a few shares. It’s hard because they don’t know or understand the true meaning of the word ‘invest’
Why Does The Word Invest Scare People
“Invest” why does this word scare people.
- Because people think you need lots of money. Not true, as I mention before you can trade Foreign Exchange with only needing $4.00 margin in the account.
- It’s associated with being “risky” What is risk? Risk is the fear of the unknown.
- The thought of the word ‘invest’ gets dismissed as the idea of investing is put into the ‘two hard basket’ and then they become ignorant of the facts.
- Because it’s boring. Well…. I would say one would at least need to find an area of interest and I would think any area that can accumulate wealth would become exciting for anyone.
